Mike Hil kicked off the new year on a positive note, sweeping Rounds Five and Six of the 2007 Winter Series at Phoenix International Raceway presented by Standing Start.

The John Walko Racing team rolled into Firebird International Raceway with no experience at the facility but plenty of expectations. Driver Mike Hill scored an impressive sweep at the previous event, scoring two wins at Buttonwillow, but had never raced at Firebird either.

Mike Hill (17), has taken the final Formula Ford race win at Laguna Seca this past weekend and wraps up the 2006 SCCA - San Francisco Region race series with some very impressive race statistics for his rookie year in Formula Ford and shares some post race fun in the pits with the California Highway Patrol.

Saturday's race had him starting from the pole and after leading the first lap, he found himself being challenged for the lead in turn one. Hill was on the outside of this high speed left-hand turn in a portion of the track that had some oil put there from a previous race and the result was that he slid off the track for an off-track excursion and in the course of this activity had also performed a complete 360 degree spin and all the while trying to maintain some control so that he would be able to re-enter the track in a safe manner to continue racing. As he maneuvered his racecar to re-enter the track, he now found himself in fifth position with a considerable amount of distance behind the new leader. Mike was able to quickly get himself re-focused on the business at hand and began his move towards the lead racecar.

Rookie Northern California racecar driver Mike Hill (16) wins SCCA National race in the Formula Ford class at Infineon, July, 1. For the 2006 race season, Mike has been competing in the San Francisco Region's regional race series in Formula Ford and currently is second in points for this very completive series however, having recently receiving his SCCA National license, he was ready for the double National-Regional races this past weekend.

This past weekend Mike Hill (16), participated in testing and the first SCCA race of 2006 race season at Infineon Raceway under very wet rainy conditions. On Friday, under the watchful eye of Memo Gidley, Mike learned those racing techniques that have made a number of racers very successful at the art of racing on wet racetracks.

Sunday November 27, 2005, marked the running of the 4th annual Jim Russell Racing 4 Hour Endurance race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, which has matured into one of the West Coast's premiere endurance kart racing events.
